About Us

Mission Statement: “The purpose of the Ballston Area History Roundtable
is to deepen the understanding of local history through research and sharing
of information among history buffs of all ages.”

The Ballston Spa History Roundtable is a group of history buffs who have gathered together to share information on local history in an effort to gain a deeper understanding of the events of the past. It is our intention that by becoming more aware of people from our past, and how they lived their lives, that we may gain insight into how the past is truly prologue to the present and our future. Initially focused on the Village of Ballston Spa and the surrounding towns of Milton, Ballston and Malta, the group welcomes anyone in Saratoga County eager to share their knowledge of local history and learn from others.

The group was formed in April 2018 and in many ways is a work in progress. Our plan is to meet regularly to discuss topics of interest to the group. Rather than inviting outside speakers, programs will be offered by members for members. All attendees are encouraged to identify their local history passions which can become discussion topics for the roundtable meetings.  Passions already mentioned include genealogy, cemeteries, everyday life, political history, medical history, architecture, oral history, historical photography, and interpreting historical collections.

The group has agreed to collaborate with the Saratoga County Historical Society and we consider Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa our home base, although we plan to meet occasionally at other locations.

Becoming a member of the Roundtable is as simple as sending an e-mail to Jim Richmond at jrichmo1@nycap.rr.com. Tell us your areas of interest and you will be placed on our contact list and receive all communication shared among the group.
